Sky Hotel Apartments to
operate Scandic Malmö City
Sky Hotel Apartments will take over operations of Scandic Malmö City on 15 May 2026. The property is located at Kaptensgatan 1 in central Malmö and currently features 243 hotel rooms.
Following a full renovation in 2026 and 2027, the property will be rebranded under the Vander name as part of the group's continued expansion in Sweden.
Sky Hotel Apartments takes over an existing hotel in central Malmö
Sky Hotel Apartments will manage the property from 15 May, ahead of a planned repositioning into a modern apartment hotel.
Sky Hotel Apartments and Vander operate under the same group, with Vander as the long-term brand for the property once renovation is complete.
Renovation
The renovation, scheduled across 2026 and 2027, will include extensive reuse of existing materials while all interiors, inventory and room functionality will be upgraded. The final number and configuration of units may be adjusted as part of the redevelopment.
Vander's project team acts as main contractor during the renovation period, working in close collaboration with new property owner Eiendomsspar, a Norwegian real estate company acquiring the entity that owns the property. The developer is Evalon Utvikling AS.
Project context
The project builds on the group's previous renovation work in Stockholm, where existing hotel properties have been transformed into modern apartment hotels under the Vander brand.
Malmö is a strategically important market and supports the group's continued expansion into central urban locations across the Nordics.
Once complete, the property will offer guests more flexibility and comfort, with upgraded design and full apartment-hotel functionality.
